Results : Returning to work for cancer survivors can be defined by following attributes : 1) a balance between work and life, and maintaining normal life, 2) restoring identity and recovering from lowered self-esteem, 3) improving social relationships, 4) gaining financial security, 5) a distraction and providing the energy to focus on, 6) a process of recovery and an essential part of healing, 7) a developmental, dynamic and evolving process with multiple phases , 8) an important milestone in the transition from patient to survivor. The antecedent factors of returning to work were : 1) an end of initial treatments, 2) anxieties about cancer-related stigma and negative perceptions, 3) uncertainties about ability to return to work. There are consequences as a result of returning to work: 1) a re-evaluated role and priority of work, 2) a healing mechanism for providing them with ways of coping with the cancer experience
